Greg Leland

Education

Greg Leland has worked for the Manteca Unified School District since 1985. He has served as a teacher, coach, Summer School Principal, Dean of Activities, Dean of Athletics and Vice Principal.
Greg has taught Health, Driver Education, Psychology, Peer Resource, World and European History, and Physical Education. He has also served as a Head Coach in football and track. In each of these assignments, Greg has demonstrated outstanding leadership and creativity. He has been active in developing new programs such as a peer resource, Freshman P.O.D and “Soaring High” team.
Greg has been active in the Manteca community as well as the school district. He was a past board member for California Association of Peer Programs, Give Every Child a Chance, Manteca Unified Student Trust, and Site Logistics Chairperson for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life for the past five years. Greg has been involved with fund-raising events for the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Manteca, organizing blood drives for the Delta Blood Bank as well as other various fund-raisers over the past 27 years. Greg’s leadership role in the “Partners in Prevention” program resulted in him being awarded the “Point of Light” recognition by the “Saturday Night Live program.
During his time in the Manteca Unified School District he has been honored as a Outstanding Young Educator, E.P.I.C. Leader of the Year, California State Track and Field Coach of the Year and Prudential Foundation Outstanding Educator.
Greg and his wife Debbie will have been married for 25 years. They have two children, Brittany and Mike. Greg Leland has been a productive force in the Manteca community and is now going into the Hall of Fame as a tribute to his contributions to our community.
