John “Jack” Thomson

Athletics

Jack is an outstanding educator both in the classroom and as a dedicated coach in baseball, football and golf. Jack has an excellent reputation in the San Joaquin Section and through the State of California.
Jack’s record speaks for itself. He has coached nine Valley Oak League championship teams and has been named Valley Oak League Coach of the Year eight times. He has also been named Coach of the Year by the Modesto Bee and the Stockton Record. He has 551 wins in his career and ranks in the top 30 of all time in the State of California.
Jack serves as a positive role model to his students, peers and with anyone he comes into contact. Many coaches, former players and individuals consult with Jack due to his willingness to help and instruct.
Jack is active in the community as exemplified by his lifetime membership in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He has also been involved with the N.C.O.A as a football official for 13 years, advancing and being promoted as a crew chief for eight years. Jack has been an active member of Manteca Babe Ruth for almost 30 years, giving back to the youth of our community by also providing yearly baseball clinics for Little Leaguers. For the past several years, Jack has been a board member of the ABCA National Baseball Rules Committee. Coach Thomson’s accomplishments extend to a successful home life where he and his wife Paula raised four outstanding young men, John, Scott, Travis, and Michael, they all attended college and excelled both academically and athletically.
Jack has been a positive role model and impacted many individuals in the area and deserves this recognition of being inducted into the Manteca, Lathrop, and French Camp Hall of Fame.
