Stephen Winter

Education

Stephen Winter was born and raised in Manteca. He attended local schools and graduated from Manteca High School in 1965. Mr. Winter chose a career in education attending San Joaquin Delta College and California State University, Sacramento. In 1986 he completed a Master's of Education in School Management from the University of LaVerne. Upon completion of his secondary teaching credential, he returned to teach, coach, and later became principal of Manteca High School. Stephen distinguished himself in the areas of education, athletics and school administration.
Mr. Winter has been the recipient of numerous awards for teaching, coaching, and in the role of school administrator. Among those awards are Secondary Principal of the year in 2007 and Co-Administrator of the year in 2003. Stephen has excelled as a teacher/coach by receiving recognition as coach of the year twice and being inducted into the Manteca Hall of Fame as a teacher, coach and principal.
Stephen has been active in the Manteca community. He has served on the Manteca Recreation Commission for 15 years, been a member of the Manteca Library Expansion Committee, the Manteca Golf Course Operation Review Committee, Manteca Rotary and on numerous California Interscholastic Federation Committees. Mr. Winter is an active member of St Paul's Methodist Church and has served on the Staff/ Parish Relation's Committee.
Stephen is married and he and his wife, Frona, have a son, Donald, and a daughter, Kristen. Mr. Winter has been a positive role model and has impacted many young people in the City of Manteca for many years. He is very deserving of being inducted into the Manteca Hall of Fame.
